DURING YOUR STUDIES IN SPAIN YOU WILL NEED INSURANCE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW FOR STUDENTS IN SPAIN
Thinking about taking out insurance during your years of study in Spain does not mean thinking about the worst, but only preventing the worst in case of accidents or unforeseen events in Spain.
Accommodation insurance
It is possible that some students already in Spain will tell you that they do not have insurance because they live in a shared flat and have never had any problems.
Sometimes, even the real estate agency or the landlord might tell you that insurance for your accommodation is not compulsory.
We strongly advise you not to be negligent on this point, in fact:
- What will you do if there is a fire in the flat?
- What will you do if leaving a tap running causes damage due to leaking water?
- What will you do if the neighbour upstairs causes a flood that damages your belongings?
Without housing insurance, the expenses caused by these incidents will be entirely your responsibility.
We therefore strongly advise you to insure your accommodation during your university studies in Spain.
Car insurance
In order to insure a vehicle in Spain, it must be registered in Spain: it must therefore have been purchased in Spain. If it was purchased abroad, you will have to do the administrative paperwork to register it in Spain.
Liability insurance
Accommodation insurance and vehicle insurance normally include third-party liability insurance.
This will automatically cover you for the duration of your studies in Spain and in particular during your internships, which is especially useful for students following training courses in the field of health, for example.
