Study pharmacy in Spain Find out everything about pharmacy schools in Spain

The pharmacy course offered by Spanish universities lasts five years.

The early part of the course is mainly scientific (mathematics, chemistry, biology), as these fundamentals must be mastered in order to acquire the knowledge needed to practise the future profession of pharmacist.

This is followed by more specific courses (parasitology, botany, biochemistry, microbiology, virology, genetics, toxicology, etc.), which gradually build up the student’s skills and make him or her a competent pharmacist.

Finally, all this knowledge is put into practice in modules where students learn how to apply pharmaceutical techniques, feel at ease with molecular biology or make the best use of applied biotechnologies and pharmacy, while at the same time deepening their knowledge of the economics of medicines and pharmacy management.

For those who are more interested in research, biotechnology studies in Spain will suit you perfectly. This 4-year course is designed to be followed by a master’s degree or even a doctorate.

But what is biotechnology? According to the OECD, it is ‘the application of scientific and engineering principles to living organisms to transform living or non-living materials for the production of knowledge, goods and services’.

It is the study of everything to do with genes and gene modification. It has a wide range of applications: agriculture, health, industry, marine biodiversity, etc.
