Become a physiotherapist by studying physiotherapy in Spain
Four years of training allow students who study physiotherapy in Spain to become highly qualified professionals.
As a physiotherapy student you will receive theoretical and practical training in a physiotherapy school in Spain.
You’ll study the structure and different functions of the human body; anatomy is an essential subject taught from the beginning of the programme.
Tissue and cell biology classes, as well as biophysics or biomechanics, are as important as pharmacology or investigative techniques.
From the first year, you will put your theoretical knowledge into practice on a daily basis, first during simulated sessions, on “healthy” patients (the other students).
You will learn how to make a diagnosis, then when you have perfectly assimilated this knowledge you will explore the different fields of physiotherapy (pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, obstetrics, sports, urology, etc.) and implement the necessary curative treatments for each of the pathologies that you may encounter in your future professional life.
You’ll also learn how to communicate with your patients, who are often in pain, and thus better optimise the effectiveness of the care you provide.
Finally, you’ll need to learn the professional ethics and deontology that will make you a respected physiotherapist.
You’ll also study English, the language of communication for many publications in the field of physiotherapy, which will be essential to keep you informed of the developments in your profession.
The number of hours of practice, throughout the 4 years of studies, on healthy patients and then by intervening on pathologies, is really high. During these sessions you’ll learn all the best treatments to help your patients feel better.
You will be very well trained in Spain. The ease with which physiotherapists who have studied in Spain integrate to work in European countries is proof of this. The programmes are serious and the involvement of the Spanish universities is strong and efficient on this curriculum.
All you need to do is to make the most of what is on offer in terms of the teaching methods, the excellence of the teaching staff, the quality of the premises and materials available to students, and the many and varied internship opportunities.
